Region 9 - Adelaide North

GRADING CRITERIA

A student must train at the minimum number of classes required and for the minimum amount of time on their current grade before they can attempt the next grade level. They must also have a good understanding of their grade kata. Yellow Tip and Orange Tip gradings are held by the Dojo Instructor during a normal class. All other gradings are undertaken at the monthly Regional Grading, held by the Region Manager. Children aged 12 years and under and not yet 5th kyu, have a modified training and grading criteria. All students 13 years and above, or if under 13 years 5th kyu and above, must perform all previous Katas, as well as their "Grade" katas at a grading. A copy of the full Grading Syllabus is available from your Dojo Sensei. The Dojo Instructor must be certain that the student has the necessary qualities to attempt their next grading. Students grading to 3rd Kyu and above are normally assessed by the Senior Regional Instructor prior to attempting their next grade. Gradings to Nidan and above can only be undertaken at a grading held by a Zone Instructor or above.
