NAS Australian ChampionshipsThe 2011 NAS Australian Championships were held in the Gold Coast over the weekend of 3-4th December. Unlike previous titles at the Gold Coast, it was a small team of only 17 GKR competitors that were part of the South Australian Team. The traditional State by State march in was followed by welcoming speeches by NAS Vice President and Host State Director Jim Casey. Full Results and plenty of Photos here..... |

GKR Australian ChampionshipsThe 2011 GKR National Championships were held in the regular Sydney venue, the Whitlam Centre, in Campbelltown. The usual formalities of State by State march-in, bow-in and welcoming speeches by Kancho and the Tournament organisers opened the day. NAS State ChampionshipsA Team of 23 competitors represented the State Team at the 2011 NAS South Australian State Championships. There was good support throughout the day from non-competing team members and parents. There were mixed results on the day but team members took out 11 State Championships, 19 Runners up and 10 third places. It was a very good effort, with a high percentage of competitors taking home at least one trophy. Full Results and plenty of Photos here..... |

NAS Round 2A small team of 21 competitors represented the State Team at Round 2 of NAS. There were several changes from Round 1 with some competitors missing due to either injury or focussing on coaching. At the end of the day, team members took out 18 firsts, 13 seconds, 8 third places, plus 7 fourth places by virtue of losing Sparring third place bouts or tied for Forms. A very good effort, with only a couple competitors not taking home at least one trophy and they were in large divisions. Full results and plenty of photos here ..... |

NAS Round 1About half of the State Team squad entered Round 1 of the 2011 NAS South Australian local season. The 24 competitors took out 18 firsts, 18 seconds, 8 third places, plus 5 fourth places by virtue of losing Sparring third place bouts or tied for Forms. It was a very good effort, with only 2 competitors not taking home at least one trophy and they were in large divisions. Full results and plenty of photos here ..... |

GKR State Tournament Round 1A larger than usual entry faced the judges in Round 1 of the GKR Tournaments for 2011. As usual, there was great displays of GKR Karate throughout the age groups and divisions. Alan Gillert won both Black belt male events, but first time winners in the Female section were Tegan Miller in Kata and Tanya Tregenza in Kumite. Full results and plenty of photos here ...... |

GKR Australian ChampionshipsA fantastic result for South Australian competitors at the 2010 GKR Australian Championships, with a record 10 National Titles, 5 Runners Up, 12 Third places and several 4th places in individual and team events, plus some others making Kata finals but unplaced. 26/09/2010: GKR State ChampionshipsThe 2010 GKR State Championships was well supported with over 100 competitors facing the judges. There were highlights throughout all divisions, from the under 7's to the Black belt Open. Team Kumite events were as usual a fitting finale to the day. NAS State ChampionshipsThe 2010 NAS State Championships were well supported by 30 members of the State Team, making up around 1/3 of the competitors. Team members took out 25 State Championships, 15 Runners-Up and 9 Third places. In addition several people placed fourth in Forms or Sparring. Full Results, Report and lots of Photos here..... |

NAS Round 2Another great Tournament for the GKR SA State Team at Round 2 of the NAS circuit, with all competitors performing well. The highlight of the day was the Sparring final between Jalen Croxton and Jasmine Harford, which received tremendous vocal support from the large audience. AKF South Australian Open TournamentEight members of the State Team competed in the recent Australian Karate Federation South Australian Open Tournament, with team members picking up four medals. Top performer on the day was Jason Spiteri, winning the 11-12 years Kumite. Full results, report and photos here..... |

GKR State Tournament Round 2Plenty of great action for Round 2 of the GKR State Tournament Season, with some excellent GKR Karate on display by both Juniors and Seniors. A busy time coming up for our State Team members, with three consecutive weekends of Tournaments in June. First up is the GKR Tournament, then an AKF Open Tournament, with the third being Round 2 of NAS. The State Team Honour Roll has been updated to include all National/World Cup Winners since 2001. 28/03/2010: 20th JKF Gojukai National
ChampionshipsFour State Team members travelled to Brisbane to compete in this event for the first time and what a success it was. Alan Gillert won the under 75kg division, Jeremy Thompson won and Daniel Tregenza placed second in the Open Division, and Daniel placed 3rd and Seb Nazar 4th in the over 75kg division. Alan, Jeremy and Daniel have now qualified to represent Australia at the JKF Gojukai 36th annual Tournament in Takamatsu City, Japan late July. Full report and photos here..... |
28/03/2010: GKR Round 1 2010An entry of around 100 competed in the first GKR Tournament for the year. There was strong competition in many divisions, from Juniors through to Senior Veterans. NAS Round 1 2010A Team of 38 competitors entered the first NAS Tournament for 2010 with excellent results, throughout all age groups and divisions. The Black Belt Female division was very strong, with a First and second in Forms and a second and third in Sparring to our competitors. Full details and photos here, along with video coverage here. |

With Sensei Anthony and Shihan’s approval, 4 students – Daniel Andrew, Lucille Lott, Jasmine Harford and Jason Spiteri participated in a JKF Junior Tournament last Sunday at Mt Gambier. They did exceptionally well, with Jasmine and Daniel placing first in Kata and Kumite, Jason Spiteri second in Kata and Lucille Lott second in Kumite. In attendance and assisting with the judging, from Japan were JKF Hanshi Sensei Shinji Fushimi (8th Dan) and Shihan Tomoyoshi Endo (5th dan). Full story and Photos here..... |

NAS Australian Championships A record breaking performance by representatives, saw Eight National Titles, Five Runners Up and Four Third Places come home to South Australia, including for the first time, the Female Team Sparring Shield. GKR 5th World Cup Around 45 South Australians competed in the 5th World Cup in Melbourne. Congratulations to South Australian World Champions, Kate Jamieson, Nik McDonald and Cory Burnside.
