NAS Day 2 of Competition

With the team still on a high from the successes of Saturday night, it was a confident team that traveled to Day 2 competition. It was a huge day for the team with three Sparring Titles and the Junior Syncronised Team also took out their event. several others took out minor places or just missed out in being unsuccessful in third place bouts or losing in quarter finals.

Highlights were Alan Gillert taking out 16-17 year Sparring, Beau Beaumont winning Male Advanced Sparring and Jenny Miller defeating multiple former winner Denise Fung to take out Veteran Female Sparring. Several others had close bouts against people who went on to take out places so it was a great day.

Most people had left for the Park, when Silvio Morelli called for a break in competition to present the Presidents Cup for the "Champion State". He announced that to make it fairer, the new format would be points gained divided by the number of competitors. In third place was Victoria, in second place was NSW and to a big roar, first place for the first time in 22 years was South Australia. Robin and Jeremy very enthusiastically accepted the Cup on behalf of Nick Di Cristofaro, the SA Director who had already left.

A very happy group gathered that afternoon for a Team Photo and celebration. Robin congratulated everyone and then pulled the Presidents Cup out to the delight of all. It was understandably a very late night for many, celebrating the best ever results at the GKR and NAS Nationals.

Congratulations to all SA Team members, the Coaches, Support People and all those who came along to make this a huge week for the SA Team. Full results will be in Tournament Revue on the main site soon, along with many photos.
